SECOND PLACE: Jake May, The Flint Journal, “Fallen”
Caption: Rick Inman, Jr., rushes over to embrace stepmom Jessica Simmons, left, as brother Matao, 10, reflects on his own as the family mourns in their living room on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in Flint, in relation to the death of Michael Inman, a 16-year-old boy who fell about 25 feet through the roof of the vacant Johnson Elementary School on Sunday. Michael Inman died Monday in the hospital. Matao was with Michael when he fell to his death. The kids were supposed to stay away from the vacant school. "I've seen him there, and I've told him. I've drove by, and I've told him, and I've told him," said Rick Inman Jr., Michael's dad. "I agree 100 percent, just like everybody else, that he shouldn't have been there. He should not have been on the roof, but he was. I did the same thing when I was a kid, and everybody that's posting them crazy posts — I guarantee you, they've done things at least that bad. Kids are going to make bad choices sometimes. … I don't want anyone else to go through what these kids have been through, and what I'm going through."
