Kent, a 26-year-old Flint man who was fatally shot on Aug. 11, was the 11th person killed in a rash of slayings since July 31. About 40 family members and friends stood in solidarity in his honor. "It’s paralyzing and numbing. I didn’t know this had happened, because when it happened nobody called me or anything," Gatson said. "I got a call that morning about 7, but he had already passed away when I went to the hospital. He was shot 16 times."
