LaShanti Redmond, 10, left, and her sister Asharra Smith, 6, right, hold onto the mother Charlene Mitchell, all of Flint, for comfort as they wait to get their blood tested for lead levels on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016 at Freeman Elementary School in Flint. The free blood testing was for children ages 0 to 6 years old, and families should get the results in the next two weeks. "We need to be safe right now. This has been going on for 18 months now," Charlene Mitchell said. "My children have been bathing in it, getting rashes and having to get medication. I won't let them drink it anymore, and they even brush their teeth using bottle water. This has to end."
